As reported earlier, on May 23 "Rīgas satiksme" organised an event in tram depot No. 5 at Brīvības Street 191 for former patients of the Hemato-oncologic Department of the Children Clinical Hospital who have won cancer successfully. At the beginning, children were invited to a guided tour of the tram depot, to see how spare parts are manufactured in the forge, how trams are cleaned and painted, and also other works done in the depot. After the excursion the children draw drawings devoted to the 10th anniversary of "Rīgas satiksme" under the guidance of artist Jānis Anmanis.
In a vote on the company’s website for the best drawing that of Jānis received 1936 votes out from 9108 votes of the website visitors. The voting continued almost one month – from May 27 till July 1.
"On behalf of the children hospital I would like to express cordial thanks to "Rīgas satiksme" for the nice and interesting adventure organised for our little patients! For those children having won a very serious disease, it was a wonderful surprise, and we all hope that that our patients how are now receiving treatment will fully recover and return at home very soon! I urge all e-ticket users to help the little patients of the Hemato-oncologic Department to recover by supporting the reconstruction of the this department!" said Liene Dambiņa, the head of the Children Hospital Foundation.
The tradition of printing children drawings on e-tickets was established four years ago. In 2010 and 2012 the company invited children from orphanages, and in 2011 students from the Jānis Rozentāls secondary school of arts and the Latvian Children and Youth Academy of Artistic Fantasy.
